About Us

Bridging the Gap

Empowering veterans through canine companionship

At Cache Canines for Veterans, Inc., we understand the profound impact that dogs can have in the lives of veteran-owners. We will be offering a variety of financial grants to qualifying veterans for adoption, maintenance & medical, and towards training (appropriate) for each situation. Other programming and resources will be developed so please stay tuned! Please help us determine future programming by participating in upcoming surveys, social media campaigns, and community outreach.

Cache Canines for Veterans, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization based in Cache, Oklahoma, that was founded by Nate and Andrea Akridge. The Akridges are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of veterans, and they saw how service dogs can make a significant difference. This is why they provide opportunities for training service dogs to veterans in need across the community. The inspiration for this organization came from Nate’s personal experience as a retired Army veteran. He experienced the transformative power of love and support with his own service dog, Olivia. This inspired their mission to empower other veterans with the companionship and support provided by our dogs. Help us make a change by supporting Cache Canines for Veterans, Inc. There are many ways you can get involved.

Our board members are passionate about enhancing the lives of veterans one paw at a time.

Nathan Akridge

President

Nate is a disabled veteran who knows all too well the incredible advantages of owning a trained service dog. After being fortunate enough to receive 100% funding for himself and his dog Olivia’s specialized training, he was deeply inspired to help other veterans experience the healing power of canine companionship. The demand for trained service dogs far outweighs the available resources, but with the support of individuals like you, we can make a real impact in the lives of these heroes and the loyal dogs who love them.

Andrea Akridge

Treasurer/Secretary

Andrea first met Nate when he was reaching the end of his long and dedicated military service. As a dog enthusiast herself, she recognized that a trained service dog would make an ideal support system for managing his injuries sustained during combat. With her dedication to assisting veterans and her extensive experience as a municipal finance director, she was the perfect fit as the CFO of Cache Canines for Veterans, Inc. Your support and generosity can help us continue this important mission and make a difference in the lives of these deserving individuals.
