Hello everyone and nice to meet you!

My name is Nate and I’m a retired Army veteran with 22 years of service and 6 deployments, 5 of which were in combat. After my first deployment I quickly realized that I needed some help dealing with the psychological aftermath of combat. Over the course of my military career, I sustained numerous injuries and lifelong medical conditions. Fast forward to 2022, my wife found the most amazing emotional support dog named Olivia for me.  As someone who has never owned a pet let alone a dog, I was a little bit worried about how she would fit into my life.  However, I immediately realized that I was truly blessed to fit into her life. Olivia provides me the comfort, unconditional love, and moments of hilarity that I so dearly need and cherish.  We are inseparable. In April 2023, I retired from active duty and relocated to Greenville, SC to get Olivia trained with other service dogs for veterans.  After 8 months of training, she made the giant leap from being my companion to a well-trained service dog for me. When I have to go to a doctor’s appointment or a store she is always by my side, ready to perform the many tasks she was trained for.  When I have a nightmare or flashback, she provides me comfort and peace.  In short, she gives a reason and the strength to face any challenge each and every day.
Our hope at CC4V, is to help connect others with their own veteran assistance dogs, to provide the unconditional love, security, and comfort that you deserve.  Thank you for your service!      Nate
