Getting a dog especially when you haven’t owned one before can be emotionally challenging. Of course the term “owned” can be a bit of a misnomer when it comes to dogs. For the bond that you forge with the right dog (for you and your circumstances) will last you all of their lives and pay you dividends like no other relationship you’ve had before.

Not all dogs are the same and there’s no guarantees when it comes to how successful you and yours would be when it comes to Service Dog Training but the same can be said for anything in life. The experts will tell you and I certainly agree that picking a new dog specifically for service dog training takes a leap of faith. It takes due diligence for whatever that means to you. It also takes commitment which again is something you need to figure out for yourself in order adapt and overcome the challenges ahead.

For our part, we want to support deserving veterans and several existing organizations in Oklahoma who are working together towards a common goal. More on that next time.

I love this picture of me and the girls because it represents a day in the life. It shows that a bit of a mess is to be expected but that the right dog for you will always make it their mission to seek you out, assess the situation, and pitch in with what is needed in the moment. It also reminds me that dogs are more resilient and adaptable than us human beings.
